This scholarship fund was established to honor our friend, Stephen, who was a bartender for us at Blue Water Grill & Raw Bar. He passed away in August 2021 after a courageous battle with colorectal cancer.
The $1,500 scholarship is awarded annually to an employee of Blue Moon Beach Grill who is studying at an accredited institution of higher learning.
Heath will be heading to the Berklee College of Music in Boston to study Music Production and Engineering. He started playing music in 6th grade and through hard work and pure passion, Heath has shined in every aspect of his musical career. He was the field commander for the First Flight Marching Nighthawks and was involved in seven district honor band clinics across three instruments. Heath says, "My most significant auditioning accomplishment was securing a spot in North Carolina's All-State Jazz Clinic. I auditioned on trombone and out of five available spots in the entire state, I won a position. Playing alongside the highest level of student musicians in North Carolina has inspired me to keep pushing for greatness and to continue my music career throughout life." Heath graduated with a 4.349 GPA and his ultimate goal is to "bring myself and others joy with the creation of music."
Heath joined his mom and dad when he started working at Blue Moon as a busser. Heath's dad, Lee, is one of our kitchen managers and an excellent chef. His mom, Heather, has worked for us for more than a decade and is one of our front-of-the-house managers.
We are proud of Heath and look forward to watching him grow in this next chapter. Congrats from your Blue Crew family!
